A blank plate, also called a filler, blank module or dummy plate, closes a module opening that has no switch or socket in it. Cover plates come in fixed sizes, so a board often ends up with a spare slot; a blank plate fills it neatly and keeps the live wiring behind the plate out of reach.
Keep one or two spare. When you later add a switch, indicator or TV outlet, switch off, remove the cover plate, unclip the blank and fit the new module in its place.
When you need one

How to install
- Switch off the supply at the MCB and remove the cover plate.
